PHILOSPHY:

The school library media center should function as an integral part of the school program by enriching all aspects of the educational process. It should reflect and support the philosophy and objectives of the entire school program and function not as a separate component but be totally involved in the teaching and learning process.

GOALS:

·        To provide materials which will extend the students’ knowledge, experience, and literary appreciation. 

·        To serve as a center for recreational reading, viewing, and listening.

·        To provide materials which will meet the varied needs, abilities, and interests of the students served.

·        To help students develop habits of inquiry and encourage competency in the use of available resources.

·         To help students develop study and research skills that will prepare him/her for self-directed learning.

·        To encourage use of materials and services by every student and staff member.

·        To teach appropriate media competencies through the use of various methods and techniques, enabling students to become proficient and discriminating users of print and non-print materials.

·        To plan with teachers in the selection of materials to support the curriculum.

·        To revise programs when necessary for adapting to curriculum changes, teaching techniques, changes in student populations and current trends.

·        To encourage the use of community resources to supplement the school library media center.

·        To organize and administer the library media center for easy access.

·         To maintain necessary records in an organized and efficient manner.
